After entry, a foreigner must register with migration. Here are the deadlines, exemptions and how to do it without violations.
Migration registration is a notification to the state that a foreigner has arrived and where they live. It confirms the legality of your stay. Usually it's the host, not the foreigner, who registers.
The notification is submitted by the host:
Traditionally the host notifies of arrival shortly after entry (usually within 3 working days). In 2026 a digital migration-registration system is being rolled out (auto-registration on entry, online notification), so confirm the current procedure and deadlines at the time of arrival.
EAEU nationals (Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia) may stay the first 30 days without registration, and up to 90 days within any 180. To stay longer you must obtain a status (RVP/residence permit) within the set period.
Overstaying can bring fines, and serious violations can lead to deportation and an entry ban. So timely registration and status matter.
